The mother of Michael Frison, a British man who vanished while volunteering on a farm in Sardinia, has made an emotional appeal for his safe return.
Frison, 25, from Chard, Somerset, has not been seen since he left for a walk in the rural area of Luras on July 13. He was visiting family and volunteering in northern Sardinia when he disappeared.
The police search for Frison was suspended on Friday, leaving his family desperate for answers. Cristina Pittalis, Frison’s mother, has flown to Sardinia, where she revealed that her son left his phone, laptop, and ID at his accommodation before going missing.
In a poignant video shared on social media, Pittalis expressed her deep concern and love for her son, highlighting the pain felt by his younger brother, Emanuele.
“I know you are alive. I’m looking for you, and I am very worried,” Pittalis said in her heartfelt message. She reassured Frison that there is no need to fear the authorities searching for him and encouraged him to seek help if needed.
“Remember how much Emanuele is suffering from your absence,” she added.
Emanuele, in a voice message, pleaded for his brother’s return. He said: “I miss you, come home. Whoever receives this message, find my brother and tell him I sent this message. Tell him my name. Tell him I miss him and I love him.”
A fundraiser has been launched to support the search efforts for Frison, raising £2,765 so far. Evie Baker, who organised the fundraiser, described the circumstances of Frison’s disappearance, noting he felt unwell due to the heat and possibly dehydration before going for a walk and not returning.
Frison is one of three individuals reported missing in northern Sardinia recently. Alongside him, an elderly Italian tourist went missing in Valledoria, and another elderly woman disappeared in Stintino. Both have health issues, complicating the search efforts.
Local authorities have been conducting continuous searches for the missing individuals, but the extreme heat has stretched their resources thin. Similar disappearances have been reported in other regions, with heat-related incidents causing concern.
Despite the challenging conditions, the Frison family remains hopeful for Michael’s safe return.
