A 21-year-old woman was molested and robbed as she walked down a Lower East Side street, police said Friday.
Cops have released images of the suspect, who was sporting a black winter coat with a fur-lined hood and glasses, in the hopes someone would recognize him.
The woman was approaching Jefferson St. near Henry St. at about 11:30 p.m. Sunday when the suspect crept up to her from behind, cops said.
The creep didn’t say a word as he grabbed her breasts from behind, shoved her to the ground, and molested her.
He then grabbed the woman’s purse and ran off.
As he fled, he rifled through the purse, scattering her property all over the sidewalk. Cops managed to collect the stolen items and return them to the victim.
The woman was rattled, but not physically harmed, cops said.
No arrests have been made.
Police recovered surveillance video of the mugger around the time of the robbery. He’s described as a light-skinned man between 30 and 40 years old, cops said. He’s also believed to be 5-foot-10 with a medium build.
Besides the coat and glasses, he was wearing black pants, black and white sneakers and a baseball cap.
Anyone with information regarding his whereabouts is urged to call NYPD Crime Stoppers at (800) 577-TIPS. All calls will be kept confidential.
