Moment savage Russia air strike devastates Ukrainian apartment block in huge fireball

The horrific moment a 250-kilogram Russian bomb hit an apartment block in eastern Ukraine was captured on video.

Russia has been using modified Soviet-era bombs to target cities and towns across Ukraine, in a campaign designed to spread terror among civilians and destroy public morale.

The bombs have been fitted out with wings and satellite navigation aids, and are fired by fighter jets from inside Russia.

Yesterday, Russia launched three KAB-250 glide bombs on Kramatorsk, killing two and wounding 19 more.

A 50-year-old man and an 87-year-old woman died in the attacks. Among the wounded were 4 children aged 4 to 15 years.

The moment one of the glide bombs hit an apartment in the city was captured by CCTV security cameras on a building across the road.

A massive explosion producing a huge ball of flames can be seen as the bomb smashes into the ground floor of the apartment block.

The attacks damaged 39 high-rise buildings, 3 educational institutions and 10 retail outlets, according to officials.

The glide bombs are cheap and highly destructive. Russia has used them also against Ukrainian defensive positions along the frontlines.

The bombs have played a key role in helping Putin’s army to capture further ground in Ukraine.

Kramatorsk lies just 20 kilometres (12 miles) from the frontlines and has already been hit by two deadly missile strikes that killed tens of civilians.

In June last year, 13 people were killed when a missile slammed into a restaurant, while more than 60 died after an attack on the city’s railway station in April 2022.

Civilians have found themselves regularly targeted by Russia, which has struck cities and towns with ballistic and cruise missiles, as well as with drones and massive bombs.

Oxfam estimates that 42 civilians are killed and wounded every day and that more than 10,500 have been killed – among them around 600 children.

More than 87 percent of the people killed are casualties of explosive weapons, with many of the injuries life-changing in nature, including the loss of limbs or eyesight.

On Sunday, Russia attacked Zaporizhzhia city for the first time with KAB bombs, injuring at least 21 civilians in the attacks on 13 residential buildings and two educational facilities.
