Microsoft's latest Windows 11 upgrade is breaking PCs and users are furious

Microsoft has just pushed out a new update for Windows 11 users, and it appears to be causing a fair amount of havoc once installed. The latest release, KB5050009, is giving some PC owners a serious headache. It appears to break Bluetooth connectivity, leaving some users unable to listen to music or watch videos via their Bluetooth headphones.

Along with killing that audio connection, it’s also been reported – via the team at Windows Latest – that KB5050009 has caused issues with in-built web cameras as well.

“I also noticed that my Spectre’s built-in camera is no longer getting detected when Windows 11 KB5050009 is installed,” explained Windows Latest’s Mayank Parmar.

It seems the only way to get things working again is to uninstall the update. That’s a worry with Microsoft saying, “This update addresses security issues for your Windows operating system.”

It’s unclear how many PCs have been affected by the gremlins but there are plenty of users that have been left furious by the problems.

“It broke my audio and microphone completely. Hours trying to fix that wasted,” said OK_Sign on a Reddit forum.

“Still waiting for them to fix 5050009. Keeps installing over and over and breaking my DAC,” add Windows 11 user Sleeping88.

Microsoft is sure to release an update soon that will solve the current gripes, but if you are concerned about losing some features on your PC, you might be best to wait until the next software release.

The Redmond company has now confirmed that it is aware of the Bluetooth and web camera issues.

“After installing this security update, you might experience issues with USB audio devices. You are more likely to experience this issue if you are using a USB 1.0 audio driver based DAC (Digital to Analog converter) in your audio setup. This issue might cause USB audio devices to stop working, preventing audio playback,” Microsoft said in its release notes.

“After installing this security update, you might experience issues with USB cameras. Your device might not recognize the camera is on,” it added.
