Michelle Pfeiffer will return to her small screen roots when she stars in “The Madison,” the latest spinoff in the “Yellowstone” universe.
The 66-year-old actress is also set to executive produce the Tyler Sheridan-created series, previously titled “2024,” according to a Paramount press release Thursday.
“This cats [sic] out of the bag. Excited for this!” Pfeiffer wrote on Instagram, captioning a screengrab of Deadline’s article announcing the news.
The show, is a “heartfelt study of grief and human connection following a New York City family in the Madison River valley of central Montana,” per Paramount’s release.
“Michelle Pfeiffer is a remarkable talent who imbues every role with emotional depth, authenticity and grace,” said Chris McCarthy, Paramount Global Co-CEO. “She is the perfect anchor to the newest chapter of the ‘Yellowstone’ universe, ‘The Madison,’ from the brilliant mind of Taylor Sheridan.”
Though Matthew McConaughey was previously circling the Dutton family continuation, it’s unclear whether the Oscar winner will also join the project.
News of Pfeiffer’s casting comes less than two months after “Yellowstone” star Kevin Costner confirmed long-held speculation that he’s done with the neo-Western, skipping out on the second half of its fifth season — returning Nov. 10.
Costner stepped back from the beloved series to focus on his epic western “Horizon: An American Saga,” which hit theaters in late June to diminishing critical and commercial returns.
“Yellowstone” prequel “1883” stars real-life spouses Tim McGraw and Faith Hill, as well as Sam Elliott, while the “1923” series — also a prequel — brings A-listers Helen Mirren and Harrison Ford into the fold.
