Michael Mosley: Police officer carried off in stretcher as TV star confirmed dead

A Greek police officer involved in the search for TV presenter Michael Mosley fell on the rocky terrain during the search and had to be carried off in a stretcher.

Dr Mosley’s body was found in a rugged area next to Agia Marina on Sunday morning, following an intensive search effort by emergency services.

Authorities had warned that rescuers faced “dangerous” conditions as they desperately searched for Mosley in the searing heat.

It’s thought the body may have been there for several days after he went missing on Wednesday.

The body was located by search teams using camera equipment and has since been formally identified as that of Dr Mosley.

A sniffer dog assisting in the search reportedly had to be pulled from the hunt over concerns about its health amid the heatwave.

In an update on Sunday morning, Mayor Eleftherios Papakaloudoukas said: “During our search, and as we were approaching a cave next to the Agia Marina beach, we were shooting along the coastline with cameras.

“We saw an object next to a fence on the beach and when we zoomed in we realised that it was Michael Mosley’s body. He had probably fallen from a short cliff of about 10 metres.”
