An awkward kiss between former president Donald Trump and wife Melania Trump has left members of the public cringing.
The Trump and Vance rally at Madison Square Garden in New York stunned those on Twitter/X as they say they were not fooled by the kiss between the pair and insist the relationship is relatively cold. A clip of the pair’s interaction has since gone viral and left many cracking jokes about how frosty it is between the pair.
Trump and Melania marreid on January 22, 2005, but the couple looked frigid on stage. One user likened them to “actors without chemistry” while others were convinced it was a paid appearance for Melania, rather than out of choice. This marks the first time Melania has spoken at a Trump event this election cycle, and her appearance did not go down well with those online.
A clip of the apperance from Melania was posted to Twitter/X by @NikkisBubble, who says the “awkward non-kiss” and “weird hug” were visually offputting and not convincing anyone. They wrote: ” Did I not say get ready for the awkward non-kiss, weird hug between Donald Trump and Melania Trump. These two are fooling no one. #TrumpRally at Madison Square Garden.”
One user wrote: “Barely kisses him. Awkward hug. Tries to pull away but Trump holds on then pats her hand, trying to visually assure everyone she’s with him. Watch the body language from both. They’re like actors with no chemistry.”
Another joked: “She kissed in him like she was greeting her father-in-law or a friend’s husband. Air kisses.” The original poster alleged: “I think she was paid enough for a lip kiss but he’s so used to not getting those he didn’t know what to do.”
Others resorted to dubbing the kiss between the two as “fake,” with another writing: “That’s got to be the most passionless ‘kiss’ I’ve ever seen between two married people.” While the kiss and hug were unconvincing for many, some drew the line at a moment afterwards where Trump grabbed Melania’s hand and began patting it. ” The pat on the hand is what did it for me,” one user wrote.
Some suggested it looked like the pair had not seen each other in months and their particularly wooden appearance was ridiculed by those who dubbed them “complete strangers”. “They absolutely haven’t talked in months. Look like complete strangers,” one wrote.
Another fumed: “He has no true love. This is a business transaction, there is no love there and anyone with common sense can see it.”
