Meghan Markle’s best friend has posted a powerful message on social media defending the Duchess against “racist bullies”.

Jessica Mulroney, who has been pals with Meghan for years, shared a quote with her 330,000 Instagram followers, referring to “3 years of undeserved hate and abuse”.

Her message comes after Meghan and her husband Prince Harry were criticised for taking a private plane four times in 11 days, while campaigning about protecting the environment.

According to Elton John, who organised the flight, it was ‘carbon neutral’ however it has been estimated that the 12-seater plane used seven times the emissions per person compared to a commercial flight.

Jessica, whose three kids were all part of Meghan and Harry’s Royal Wedding, has become the latest in a line of celebrity pals to defend the couple’s decision to fly in a private plane.

She shared an image on Instagram which read: “When someone faces unfair criticism, you call it out.

“When that person is your friend and your family, you call those critics what they truly are.

“Shame on you, you racist bullies.”

The caption read: “3 years of undeserved hate and abuse. It’s enough.”

Her post has been liked more then 23,000 times.

”  Prince Harry  ’s Mother, Diana Princess Of Wales was one of my dearest friends. I feel a profound sense of obligation to protect Harry and his family from the unnecessary press intrusion that contributed to Diana’s untimely death.

“After a hectic year continuing their hard work and dedication to charity, David and I wanted the young family to have a private holiday inside the safety and tranquility of our home.

“To maintain a high level of much-needed protection, we provided them with a private jet flight. To support Prince Harry’s commitment to the environment, we ensured their flight was carbon neutral, by making the appropriate contribution to Carbon Footprint.

“I highly respect and applaud both Harry and Meghan’s commitment to charity and I’m calling on the press to cease these relentless and untrue assassinations on their character that are spuriously crafted on an almost daily basis.”
