On The Jamie Kern Lima Show, the mum-of-two opened up about marriage and motherhood during the hour and a half chat.
When Jamie asked Meghan to explain the meaning behind the nicknames, the former Suits actress explained that it started back in the early days of their relationship.
Referring back to 2016 when they met, she said: “Probably at the beginning of us dating, when everything was in code.
“People didn’t know we were dating for, talk about memory lane, so long ago.
“I mean, it’ll be our seven-year wedding anniversary soon.
“I couldn’t tell anyone who I was dating, and who was keeping [the secret], so I think we were just on a letter basis.”
Meghan claims their nicknames soon “stuck” and became the norm – even after their 2018 royal wedding in Windsor.
She added: “I like it. I love nicknames.”
The Duchess of Sussex was first heard calling Prince Harry “H” during their official royal tour of South Africa in 2019.
The couple also used the pet names during their bombshell six-part Netflix docuseries “Harry & Meghan.”
Previously, Meghan shared that she had her husband’s number saved on her phone as “Prince Haz”, with “Haz” being another popular nickname of hers.
After using it during their appearance on the Late Late Show, former host James Corden jokingly tried to use it.
He said in 2021: “Haz? I didn’t know we were calling you ‘Haz’ now,” to which Harry replied, “You’re not my wife.”

Strictly speaking, Harry is actually a nickname in itself, as the royal was officially christened Henry Charles Albert David after his birth in 1984.
During her first ever podcast appearance, Meghan also gushed over her husband’s efforts to keep their family – which includes Prince Archie, five, and Princess Lilibet, three – safe.
She said: “He’s just out there, just constant, like he’s just going to do whatever he can to make sure that our family is safe and protected and we’re uplifted and still make time for date nights.
“He’s also a fox. If you haven’t noticed, my husband’s very, very handsome.
“But his heart is even more beautiful.”

Meghan claimed that the pair are now enjoying the “honeymoon” stage of their relationship after being in the “trenches” for years.
She shared: “You have to imagine at the beginning, everyone has, like, butterflies.
“Then we immediately went into the trenches together.
“Right out of the gate, like six months into dating.
“So now, seven years later, when you have a little bit of breathing space, you can just enjoy each other in a new way, and that’s why I feel like it’s more of a honeymoon period for us now.”
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex stepped down as senior working royals in 2020 and relocated to California.
In Prince Harry’s recent security court case, his lawyer said: “On 8 January 2020, (the duke) and his wife felt forced to step back from the role of full time official working members of the royal family as they considered they were not being protected by the institution, but they wished to continue their duties in support of the late Queen as privately funded members of the royal family.”
They have since had a fractious relationship with King Charles and Prince William.
A timeline of Prince Harry’s family feud
IN 2018, the Sun told how “simmering tension
The first hints of friction reportedly came after William was introduced to Meghan when she was staying at Kensington Palace.
Once she’d returned home to Canada, William and Harry sat down for a brother-to-brother chat.
He knew Harry was already head-over-heels for her but it has been claimed he advised him to take it slowly.
The younger prince reportedly didn’t take too kindly to the advice, with one royal source saying he “went mental”.
Then in June 2019 Harry and Meghan officially split off from the charity they shared with William and Kate.
The Royal Foundation will be divided between the Sussexes and Cambridges as the couples focus on their own separate charitable endeavours.
Prince William and Prince Harry first established the Royal Foundation in 2009 before Kate joined two years later shortly after their engagement was announced.
The trio would often appear together at events and the Foundation had huge successes with projects like the Invictus Games for injured veterans and the mental health Heads Together campaign.
The Royal Foundation said the decision was made following the conclusion of a review into its structure – but added both couples will continue to work together in the future.
Harry and Meg were living in close proximity to Kate and Wills within the Kensington Palace estate, but they switched to Frogmore Cottage in Windsor before baby Archie was born.
The move further increased rumours of a fallout.
Harry also hinted in his ITV documentary “Harry and Meghan, An African Journey” that he and his brother had grown apart.
In 2021, Harry and Meghan give their bombshell interview with Oprah Winfrey where Harry accused his dad of cutting him off financially.
Harry then jetted back to UK to join William in unveiling a statue to their mother Princess Diana in the grounds of Kensington Palace. But sources claimed William didn’t want to attend the memorial amid their ongoing rift.
In 2022, just before their grandmother the Queen died, sources claimed Kate acts as a “peacemaker” between the brothers.
Harry claimed his brother “knocked him to the floor” during an argument about Meghan, in his memoir.
In Spare, Harry said William branded Meghan “rude” and “difficult” during a row.
Harry alleged William “grabbed me by the collar, ripping my necklace, and … knocked me to the floor”.
He said he was left with a visible injury to his back following the argument in 2019 at Nottingham Cottage on the grounds of Kensington Palace, where he was living at the time.
In January last year, Harry flew in to be with Charles after the monarch’s shock cancer diagnosis.
Harry flew back to the US the following day – without seeing Wills.
In May 2024, he visited the UK for a three-day visit without seeing King Charles or Prince William.
Meghan has this year released her latest Netflix series With Love, Meghan, in which she hosted Hollywood pals.
Shortly after came the roll out of her brand As Ever, despite the company facing a series of setbacks.
The mum-of-two then dropped her second podcast, Confessions Of A Female Founder.
