McDonald’s unveils Chicken Big Mac as free Krispy Kreme deal rolls out

McDonald’s Chicken Big Mac has finally become available across the country, more than two years after market testing.

The limited-edition menu item — made with two tempura-battered chicken patties in place of beef, but the same familiar Big Mac toppings — officially went on sale at U.S. locations Thursday. Prices vary by location.

First introduced at McDonald’s locations in the U.K., the sandwich was temporarily available in the Miami area during the summer of 2022.

The year before, the fast food giant introduced three new sandwiches as part of the ongoing “Chicken Sandwich Wars” that kicked off after Popeye’s released its killer chicken sandwich in 2019.

And just as Micky D’s rolls out the non-beef version of its signature item, the company’s partnership with Krispy Kreme doughnuts is also getting in on the action.

From Oct. 10 through Oct. 14, Krispy Kreme guests can get a free Original Glazed doughnut when they show a paper or digital receipt from a McDonald’s order placed in that same time frame.

The two companies announced in March that McDonald’s would start carrying some Krispy Kreme products.

Beginning Oct. 15, select locations in Chicago will start serving doughnuts, with a plan to expand to 1,000 McDonald’s restaurants by the end of 2024. Eventually 12,000 locations will carry the sweet treats by the end of 2026.
