SOME McDonald’s customers are crying out after a change to medium fries that mimics a beloved value item.
They argued that the update doesn’t reflect what they paid for.

“This… this is the new ‘Medium Fry’ from McDonald’s?” a longtime customer, Greg, fumed in a Facebook post earlier this month.
“You have GOT to be kidding me.”
Greg included a snapshot of the World Famous Fries on the dashboard of his car, where they could be seen sitting in a white bag instead of the signature red cardboard box many are familiar with.
It was reminiscent of the bag that the small fries from McDonald’s typically sit in, offered on the McValue Menu.
“I worked there for over 7 years, and this is what they’re serving customers now?” Greg questioned.
Greg argued the fast food chain was effectively shorting customers for the extra money paid to get a medium fry instead of a small fry.
“I’m eating at McDonalds. I’m not looking to lose weight here,” he commented.
SMALL OR MEDIUM?
Several others were also shocked at the packaging change.
“Wtf, that was always the small,” a confused diner commented.
“That’s a fckn baby fry. Ain’t no friessss,” another wrote.
“WOW!!” exclaimed a third.
Someone else slammed it as a “waste of money.”
They aren’t alone, either, as several Reddit threads since last year have called out the medium fries change.
Customers again claimed that it resulted in a smaller quantity for the same price, commonly known as “shrinkflation.”

“Decreases large and medium fry sizes by 30% to 40% by the looks of it,” a McDonald’s customer fumed.
“Skimping out on fries, the item that’s so cheap to produce and has always earned them good money is so sad,” someone else wrote.
SUSTAINABLE SWITCH
But why the packaging change in the first place?
McDonald’s started eliminating cardboard boxes for fries as part of efforts to reduce its environmental impact.
It detailed moves like “reducing waste and transitioning to more sustainable packaging,” among others.
There has been no indication that the medium fry has shrunk as a result of the sustainable packaging.
The U.S. Sun has contacted McDonald’s for comment.
Nutrition facts for the World Famous Fries in a medium size on McDonald’s website note it at 320 calories total.
McDonald’s customers also did not approve of a new “age” policy spotted at a location recently, demanding that the restaurant be “boycotted.”
The Squishmallows Happy Meal has also returned at the fast food giant, with an extra surprise included.
