DIYARBAKIR/Eğil Mayor Fırat Seydaoğlu solved the transportation problems faced by residents who settled in the district from Diyarbakır after the February 6 earthquake. He had new roads carved out of the rocks to reach their homes.
Residents who took refuge in the vineyards in Eğil district after the earthquake had long faced transportation difficulties. Thanks to Mayor Seydaoğlu’s initiative, comfortable roads were built to reach their homes.
Following the earthquake that struck 11 provinces on February 6, 2023, earthquake-stricken residents forced to relocate from Diyarbakır city center to the vineyards in Eğil district experienced transportation difficulties for months. Families, who had difficulty reaching their homes by road even on foot, overcame this difficulty thanks to Mayor Fırat Seydaoğlu’s commitment to service.
Eğil Municipality teams launched a feverish effort in the region under Mayor Seydaoğlu’s direction. Rocks were carved out with heavy equipment, roads were widened, and stabilized material was laid to make them suitable for vehicle access. Thanks to the newly constructed roads, citizens can now reach their homes safely and comfortably.
Citizen Mehmet Ali Şahin told our newspaper:
“Mr. Seydaoğlu provides services without discrimination based on party affiliation. We are delighted that such a humble individual has come to serve a historic district like Eğil. I would like to personally thank him.”
