Looks like Matty Healy forgot about Taylor Swift, after all. The 1975 frontman is engaged to model-musician Gabbriette, less than a year after splitting from Swift .
The announcement also comes mere weeks after Swift dropped “The Tortured Poet’s Department,” widely believed to focus on their on-off love story.
The 26-year-old Nasty Cherry vocalist, real name Gabriella Bechtel, confirmed in multiple Instagram Stories Tuesday that she and the 35-year-old “About You” crooner are getting married. The musicians were first publicly linked in September.
Gabriette initially sparked engagement rumors when she was seen wearing the ring late last month.
After posting several videos from Charli XCX’s Brooklyn “Brat” show, Gabbriette shared a close-up of her left hand, resting over another girl’s behind, with a black gem on her ring finger. “MARRYING THE 1975 IS VERY BRAT @trumanblack,” she wrote.
Healy, who uses the pseudonym Truman Black on Instagram, shared both Stories to his own.
Gabbriette also shared a mirror selfie in which she sticks up her ring finger, showcasing another angle of the jewel.
Healy’s mother, Denise Welch, confirmed the news on the British daytime talk show Wednesday, per People.
“I have known for a few weeks that Matty got engaged,” said the “Coronation Street” actress, 66. “We couldn’t be happier — she is everything I would want in a daughter-in-law. I’m thrilled.”
This time last year, news broke that Swift, 34, and Healy, who reportedly had a fling in 2014, ended their romance in early June, just weeks after they were seen holding hands as they left Electric Lady Studios in Greenwich Village.
It was assumed the relationship was a rebound, as Swift had recently ended her years-long relationship with Joe Alwyn. However, the bulk of the Grammy winner’s album, “The Tortured Poet’s Department,” which dropped in April, is believed to be about Healy.
The album’s title track and songs like, “But Daddy I Love Him,” “Guilty as Sin?” and “I Can Fix Him (No Really I Can),” are all believed to be about Healy. Many Swifties now also believe that Swift’s 2020 track “cardigan” was written about Healy, and that she inspired The 1975’s 2016 song, “She’s American,” and 2022’s “About You.”
When asked in April about the album’s “diss track,” presumably “The Smallest Man Who Ever Lived,” Healy said he hadn’t “really listened to that much of it” but was “sure it’s good.”
