John Torode often shows off his cooking skills on shows such as John and Lisa’s Weekend Kitchen.
He is also a judge on MasterChef alongside Gregg Wallace who have both opened up about their weight loss in recent years.
Combining exercise with a healthy diet plan, John explained he made sure to eat breakfast to slim down.
Speaking to Good Morning Britain a few years ago, the chef said: “The big secret, which somebody told me is the thing that all people who are very, very overweight have in common, is that they don’t eat breakfast.
“I now eat breakfast and make the point of sitting down with my children, eating breakfast and starting the day well.”
Whilst breakfast doesn’t kickstart the metabolism, according to Healthline, those who eat first thing tend to adopt healthier habits.
This may be because they stay fuller for longer with certain foods such as eggs, avocado or oats.
As well as eating breakfast, John also eats a very balanced diet, showing certain food snaps on his Instagram.
He also explained how he exercises regularly which helped him to slim down.
He added: “I feel brilliant, actually. It’s about three stone and I feel great for it. I cycle everywhere, I eat different.”
John regularly posts pictures on social media showing him cycling which is a great form of exercise.
Exercise combined with a healthy diet is an effective way to lose weight as well as prevent certain diseases and lower blood pressure.
Healthline recommended performing some form of aerobic exercise at least three times a week for a minimum of 20 minutes per session.
The website explained: “However, more than 20 minutes is better if you want to actually lose weight.
“Incorporating just 15 minutes of moderate exercise, such as walking one mile, on a daily basis will burn up to 100 extra calories.”
