Man Utd to 'enter talks' with Jurgen Klopp to sign Marcus Rashford replacement

Manchester United may need to get the approval of Jurgen Klopp to sign their replacement for Marcus Rashford after reportedly lining up a move for a Red Bull Salzburg forward.

Klopp, who spent nearly nine years in charge of Liverpool before leaving in June 2024, began his role as Red Bull’s head of global soccer in September.

The German oversees the Austrian energy drink manufacturer’s football portfolio across the world, which stretches from RB Leipzig in the Bundesliga to Bragantino in Brazil.

That includes looking after affairs in Salzburg, with the Austrian side boasting one of the best scouting systems in Europe after unearthing gems such as Erling Haaland and Naby Keita in the past.

And it seems the 56-year-old could have some say in United’s second January transfer after the Red Devils registered their interest in signing Nene Dorgeles.

The Malian winger has scored 11 goals in 57 appearances for Salzburg since making his debut in 2019, including four in 14 games this term.

And the 22-year-old has been attracting interest from several European clubs, not least United, who are looking to strengthen on a tight budget in January.

According to Fabrizio Romano, United have asked Salzburg for the conditions on a possible deal for Dorgeles, including the transfer fee and his salary.

The left winger’s arrival would surely spell the end of Rashford’s time at Old Trafford, as the United outcast continues to weigh up a move away this month.
