Man Utd fans fuming that one Arsenal player is rated higher than Harry Maguire in FIFA 20

Every year the build-up to the latest edition of the video game series FIFA is agonising, for more reasons than one.

The wait for the new cover star, the wait for date it will be on shelves, the wait to find out what ratings your favourite players are.

But in the case of some Manchester United supporters, excitement has been severely dented with just over two weeks to go until it launches.

That’s because a host of Red Devils’ fans have noticed that Arsenal’s Shkodran Mustafi has been given a higher rating than Harry Maguire.

Maguire of course, is now the world’s most expensive defender following his £80million transfer from Leicester this summer, but has only received an 82 overall by the EA Sports hierarchy.

That’s one less than Mustafi, who boasts an 83 despite being told to find a new club by Unai Emery and being frozen out of the Gunners’ set-up.

It’s safe to say this did not go down well amongst United fans on Twitter.

One fan called out EA, tweeting them: “@EASPORTSFIFA how on earth is mustafi better rated than the worlds most expensive defender? Even if you dont agree on the price of Maguire, something that we can all agree on is Maguire is a million times a better defender than Mustafi. Absolute joke.”

Another added: “How has Mustafi got a higher rating on Fifa than Maguire? I swear FIFA are mad.”

A third wrote: “Harry Maguire is rated 82 on the new fifa. Mustafi is 83. The sheer disrespect is crazy.”

“FIFA is awful, Mustafi rated higher than Maguire lol wtf,” said another.

Mustafi was unable to find a new club, despite interest from Monaco before the close of the European transfer window on September 2.

Emery had urged the German to start looking at options away from the Emirates Stadium after the arrival of David Luiz.

“For one circumstance or another, they [Mustafi and Mohamed Elneny] are going to have fewer chances to show their capacity or to be happy with us and the minutes they play,” the Spaniard said.

“I think it is positive for them to leave and sign for another team where they can be protagonists and be happy and continue their careers.”
