Man Utd boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer reveals transfer strategy with bold warning to flops

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has warned his Manchester United players that he won’t hesitate to get rid of them if he doesn’t want them.

The Red Devils are still trying to make one or two signings this summer, but he’s open to buying more if he has to.

The club has been linked to a number of players since the end of the season, including a high-profile move for Leicester City defender Harry Maguire.

But Solskjaer has also warned his squad that nobody will be playing for United next season that he doesn’t want.

“There won’t be any players here I don’t want,” he told BBC Sport.

“We are still looking at one or two options but it depends on outgoings.

“It might be more because if suddenly two or three go, then you have to replace players.”

Solskjaer has already told Romelu Lukaku that he’ll be playing second fiddle to Marcus Rashford next season. The Belgian has now been linked to a £60m move to Inter Milan.

The United boss also hinted that he may have to replace Paul Pogba, if the Frenchman leaves Old Trafford this summer.

He doesn’t want Pogba to go, and thinks the World Cup winner will change his stance on his future once the club start winning trophies again.

“Paul is a fantastic player and a fantastic human being,” he said. “He has always been a great professional.

“Manchester United fans know their football. We know Paul has been criticised by a few but he’s loved by loads more.

“You know, it’s the best feeling you can have to be at this club when we’re successful.

“The ones that might want to leave now haven’t been here when it’s been successful. Hopefully they want to be part of that. I want to be part of it.”

Solskjaer also urged United fans to give him time to continue his project at the club.

Building a squad takes time, although he appreciates that he won’t be long in a job if results take a sour turn.
