Man suffers fatal fall from Brooklyn fire escape near NYC Marathon route

A young man fell to his death from a Brooklyn building’s fire escape near Sunday’s New York City Marathon route, authorities said.

The fatal fall occurred around 12:35 p.m. at a three-story apartment building on S 6th St. near Bedford Ave., in Williamsburg, according to police. The New York City Marathon, which starts in Staten Island and ends in Central Park, passed by the intersection, a resident who did not witness the fall or know the victim told the Daily News.

Officers responding to a 911 call found the man, 24, “unconscious and unresponsive on the ground with injuries indicative of a fall from an elevated position,” cops said. Medics transported him to  New York-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital, where he was pronounced deceased.

It’s unclear if the victim may have been watching the marathon when he toppled from the fire escape.

The man’s name was not immediately released, and a police investigation is underway.
