The death of a man found in his Bronx apartment in May has been declared a homicide after officials determined he died as a result of a vicious beating.
Ramon Luna, 37, was found dead inside his Lafayette Ave. apartment near Metcalf Ave. in the Soundview section of the Bronx on May 5.
Luna had suffered “multiple traumas,” officials said at the time.
This week, the city Medical Examiner’s office determined that he died from multiple “blunt impacts to his face and extremities” and declared his death a homicide, police said Friday.
Luna’s relatives knew all along he had been beaten, claiming in a GoFundMe post seeking donations for funeral expenses that he met a violent end.
“My brother’s life was taken from us due to a selfless human being’s vicious act of violence,” Luna’s sister Denise Luna said on the post. “This was unexpected and has our family at a total loss of words. All of us are heartbroken … ”
About $1,500 was raised for funeral costs on the crowdfunding site.
No arrests have been made.
