Man checking for damage from Queens expressway crash fatally struck by passing driver

A 31-year-old man who got out of his car to check for damage after getting into a crash with a Jaguar on a Queens expressway was fatally struck by a passing SUV driver, police said Wednesday.

The victim, city sanitation worker Curtis Blocker, was on his way to work when he was killed, his mother told the Daily News.

Blocker was behind the wheel of a Chevy Spark when he got into the collision with the driver of a Jaguar on the Cross Island Expressway in Bayside about 10:45 p.m. Tuesday, cops said.

When Blocker stepped out of his vehicle alongside Alley Pond Park near the exit to the Long Island Expressway to assess the damage to his car he was hit by a Nissan Rogue driver.

“(Cops) said they were doing an investigation, but he stepped out of the car and was hit by another car,” his mother Sandy Blocker said. “We are just waiting for them to finish their investigation and release the body,”

Medics rushed Blocker to North Shore University Hospital but he could not be saved. He lived in Lynbrook, L.I., according to cops.

The 43 year old Rogue driver remained at the scene. He was not immediately charged but police are still investigating the crash.
