Man, 77, slammed in face with scooter during racially charged Brooklyn clash

A 77-year-old man was slammed in the face with a metal scooter during a clash in Brooklyn filled with racial invective from both sides, police said Thursday.

The victim and his much younger adversary got into a crazed quarrel in front of a home on Melrose St. near Bushwick Ave. in Bushwick about 2:15 p.m. June 3, cops said.

It wasn’t clear what sparked the confrontation or what slurs were exchanged between the attacker, who is Black, and the victim, who is described by cops as Hispanic white. As the argument escalated the attacker slammed the victim in the face with a children’s scooter and ran off.

Medics took the victim to Interfaith Medical Center in stable condition.
