Man, 74, viciously beaten for ‘tapping’ car in Brooklyn road rage beef: police

A 74-year-old man was hospitalized after he was viciously beaten in a road rage attack for “tapping” with his fingers the back of a car about to reverse into him, police said Friday.

Cops have released images of the assailant in the attack last month in the hopes someone will recognize him.

The senior was crossing Eighth Ave. near 60th St. in Sunset Park at about 4:20 p.m. on Aug. 18 when a hefty Asian man with blond hair put his car in reverse and started rolling back toward him.

The victim tapped the rear of the car to let the driver know he was behind it. The suspect promptly got out of his vehicle and began arguing with the older man.

He then punched the senior in the face multiple times, knocking him to the ground, before he jumped back into his car and sped off.

EMS rushed the victim to NYU Langone Hospital-Brooklyn, where he was treated. His injuries, police said, were not serious.

Detectives investigating the attack recovered surveillance footage of the suspect, who was wearing shorts and no shirt at the time of the clash.

Anyone with information regarding his whereabouts is urged to call NYPD Crime Stoppers at (800) 577-TIPS. All calls will be kept confidential.
