Man, 24, left in coma from Harlem street shooting dies 3 weeks later

A 24-year-old man left in a coma when he shot in the stomach during a clash with a rival on a Harlem street last month has died, cops said Wednesday.

Tresean Gilchrist was shot during an argument with his killer near W. 140th St. and Seventh Ave. about 1 a.m. July 13. The mortally wounded victim ran four blocks to W. 144th St. before collapsing.

Gilchrist was rushed to Harlem Hospital, where he underwent surgery for seven hours, his heartbroken dad Sencorey Gilchrist wrote on a GoFundMe post asking for donations for funeral services.

“He lost a lot blood and they had to give him 32 units of blood and he caught an infection,” Gilchrist wrote. “They had to remove his leg and took cat scan where later on we learn he was brain dead.”

Gilchrist made the agonizing decision to remove his child from life support, he said. His son ultimately died Saturday

“(He) was in coma for three weeks,” the dad wrote. “I had to make the toughest decision I ever made in my life to no longer let him suffer.”

Tresean Gilchrist lived in the West Farms section of the Bronx, according to cops.

The gunman, who was dressed all in black, ran off. Cops recovered three spent bullet casings at W. 140th St.

No arrests have been made and a motive behind the shooting wasn’t immediately released. The victim’s father wrote on Facebook he believes his son was an unintended target.
