Mama bear, three cubs found in Simsbury home are tranquilized and relocated

A mother bear and several cubs were relocated into a wooded area after they were found in a home in Simsbury on Tuesday.

EnCon police and wildlife biologists responded to the home after receiving a report of a sow and three cubs being found inside, according to Will Healey, spokesperson for the state Department of Energy and Environmental Protection.

When officials arrived, the animals were still at the scene.

Healey said biologists made the decision to tranquilize the animals and relocate them.

“The bears were aversively conditioned and released to a large block of suitable, wooded habitat,” Healey said.
