Motorists face seven-mile queues between junction junction 25 to junction 27 for the M11 in Essex.
The UK’s busiest motorway has experienced significantly more traffic this morning as many drivers set off for their Easter weekend journeys.
The incident took place at around 7am this morning which caused traffic to be temporarily brought to a standstill.
The HGV breakdown occurred between Enfield and Potters Bar and caused one lane to be closed.
Highways England wrote on Twitter: “#M25 – J25 to J24 – Broken down HGV – #TrafficOfficers are now on scene and #Recovery is on route.
“Lane 1 remains closed at this time past the scene – #Enfield #Pottersbar.”
Traffic officers attended the scene.
