Luke Littler comments speak volumes after winning seventh title in a year

“I loved it, the crowd was unbelievable,” Littler said after his final 8-6 win over Wessel Nijman. “Have to say I was a bit nervous on stage first time. But I’ve not really picked up a dart since the World Matchplay, so to come here and win is even better.

“I know what Wessel is capable of. I’ve seen him dominate the last weekend of the Development Tour, but it was a good final, and I’m happy to be the only player with two [Players Championship] titles this year.”

Littler’s ability to win titles without going into tournaments with practising continues to be staggering and he now has his sights set on more major silverware and success down under.

“I’ve got to back myself to win almost everything,” Littler added. “With the standard of the other players I probably can’t do that, but I’d love to win another major title this year.”

Littler is set to head back home before travelling to Australia and New Zealand, where he will headline the World Series of Darts later this month alongside the likes of reigning world champion Luke Humphries and Rob Cross.

“Maybe I might go home tomorrow (Thursday),” Littler shared. “I’d love to go to Australia and win at least one of them. I’m looking forward to going out there. It’s a new experience like everything this year.”

It remains to be seen how much practice Littler will put in before travelling again, but after sealing a comeback against the impressive Nijman to win from 6-5 down, few will want to face the in-form-again teen.
