Louise Redknapp takes a swipe at Eternal amid bitter feud after she was accused of ‘throwing them under the bus’

LOUISE Redknapp has taken a veiled swipe at her former band Eternal amid a bitter feud after she was accused of “throwing them under the bus”.

She left the band in 1995, and now, Louise, 50, has opened up about feeling “lonely” while apart of the girl group – which comes just days after sharing how she felt “the lowest a human could get” when she split from husband Jamie.

Speaking out in a new interview, Louise has said that she felt “lost” and expressed how low her confidence was at the time of her fronting the band.

The Independent chatted to Louise over the weekend, and told her that she was the Beyoncé of the band, to which she said: “That couldn’t be further from the truth.

“I felt really lost. I didn’t feel like I was adding anything. My confidence was low.

“All I’d ever wanted to be was a pop star and I was miserable.”

She then spoke about how the band toured with Take That and touched on how she related to Robbie Williams due to them both feeling “lonely” within their respective groups.

“We both felt like the odd ones out within our bands. It was nice to know someone else who felt a bit lonely,” she told the outlet.

Opening up about leaving the band in 1995, Louise said she “felt weak” but later realised it was “strong” to do so.

“I knew I was really sad,” she said, adding: “I was in my early twenties, and you shouldn’t be sad at that stage in your life.”

She later added how she didn’t plan on forging a solo career for herself and did “really enjoy being part of the band”.

“We were just quite different characters,” she added.

This comes after talk of an Eternal reunion in 2023.

Easther and Vernie Bennett had refused to play certain Pride events and tour dates over objections to trans issues.

“There are some non-negotiables in my world,” Louise told the publication, saying how the queer community have supported her since day one.

She said that she would not have a music career without them, and how they really help her in her “darkest moments”.

“I have my path, they have their path. For me, it wasn’t a hard decision to make,” she said of the dashed reunion plans.

In 2023, amid the reunion plans, Louise’s publicict spoke out and said: “Louise is a huge supporter and ally of the LGBTQ+ community and both herself and Kelle told the duo they would not work with anyone who held these views, and as such the reunion as a four would not be going ahead.

“The team behind the proposed Eternal reunion are gay – including management, PR and tour promoter – and neither myself nor any of the team would work with artists who held such views about the trans community.”

Meanwhile, Denis Ingoldsby, Eternal’s original manager, rushed to defend the Bennetts.

“Louise and her team have thrown them under the bus and everyone is totally appalled at their bullying behaviour by totally misrepresenting the situation to suit their own agenda,” he said.

“The girls sent an email to Louise’s camp saying they loved playing Pride, and they loved the ethos of the event.

“For her camp to go on the record suggesting they are homophobic is utterly outrageous. This is nothing about gay rights.”

“The girls have played numerous LGBTQI venues their entire careers and have been inspired by the love and acceptance they have received.

“This is about the debate about the trans lobby and the erosion of the rights of women and children.

“Vernie said she had some concerns about the Pride movement being hijacked – and she is not alone – but this has now been weaponised against her, with Louise’s team trying to get her cancelled.”
