Liverpool team news: Squad revealed as Klopp, Salah, Mane board plane to Porto – No Lovren

Jurgen Klopp and his Reds squad have been photographed boarding a plane for their trip to Portugal ahead of Wednesday’s clash with FC Porto.

Liverpool hold a comfortable 2-0 advantage following goals from Naby Keita and Roberto Firmino at Anfield last week.

And Klopp has named his 21-man travelling squad for the return fixture, with centre-back Dejan Lovren not included.

The Croatian was left out of the squad and was nowhere to be seen as the team boarded a flight at Liverpool Airport.

Lovren has been struggling with a host of different injuries this season and has most recently been sidelined due to illness.

Speaking to, Klopp said: “Dejan is ill. He had a bad night, the Doc was there and he had no chance to travel. That is the reason for that.

“We have Joe [Gomez], so should be fine for that, we have Fabinho for the position. So that should be OK. We never forced it and we cannot force it.

“If you feel not well and had a bad night, we all know a day later and a high intense game, it doesn’t sound like exactly the thing you should do.

“Pretty much all the rest are travelling; Ox [Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain] is not, it makes more sense for him to train here. However much we all love having Ox around, it makes absolute sense for him that he stays here.

“Today he has a lower [intensity] day and tomorrow a high-intensity day. It’s all about him in the long-term, that’s what we have to consider first.

“But pretty much the rest are with us in Porto.”

Joel Matip is most likely to continue alongside Virgil van Dijk in central defence, while Adam Lallana has also travelled after a muscle strain.

Jordan Henderson was pictured alongside his fellow players after recovering from an ankle knock suffered against Chelsea, with Klopp confirming the Reds captain is available to play.

Klopp said: “Hendo is all fine. The other players are all fine, that’s really good.

“Nothing happened. We all have knocks and Hendo got a knock, but that would never take him out.”

Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane were all seen boarding the plane, although Klopp will hope the tie is sewn up early so his star trio can be substituted early.

Liverpool travelling squad: Fabinho, Virgil van Dijk, Georginio Wijnaldum, James Milner, Naby Keita, Roberto Firmino, Sadio Mane, Mohamed Salah, Joe Gomez, Alisson, Jordan Henderson, Daniel Sturridge, Alberto Moreno, Adam Lallana, Simon Mignolet, Xherdan Shaqiri, Andrew Robertson, Divock Origi, Joel Matip, Caoimhin Kelleher, Trent Alexander-Arnold.
