Liverpool and Everton launch cheeky attempt to have Merseyside Derby moved at less than 10 days’ notice

LIVERPOOL and Everton reportedly made a late attempt to move next week’s Merseyside Derby.

The two clubs are scheduled to meet at Anfield next Wednesday, April 2.

However, both wanted to bring the clash forward by 24 hours – largely due to Arsenal’s fixture schedule.

The Daily Mail has revealed that both clubs saw the positives in moving the televised match to the Tuesday.

That is because Arsenal face Fulham on Tuesday night before meeting with Everton in the lunchtime match on Saturday.

Therefore, the Gunners will have more time to recover and prepare for the Goodison Park fixture.

And given the fact they are Liverpool’s main title rivals, Arne Slot and Co had no problem with the prospect of moving the derby.

However, the Premier League denied the request.

Chiefs were allegedly unmoved because the original date will not cause either club to play two games within the space of 60 hours, which is the minimum period permissible.

Liverpool currently lead the Prem table, 12 points clear of Arsenal with nine games left to play.

Meanwhile, Everton sit 14th and comfortably above the relegation zone.
