Liam Payne’s girlfriend, Kate Cassidy, who had been traveling in South America with the One Direction alum until earlier this week, has broken her silence on his sudden death.
On Friday, the 25-year-old influencer said she’s “been at a complete loss” since the 31-year-old singer fatally fell from a hotel balcony in Buenos Aires on Wednesday.
“Nothing about the past few days have felt real,” Cassidy wrote in a statement on her Instagram Stories. “I ask and pray that you’ll give me the grace and space to navigate this in private.”
“Liam, my angel. You are everything,” continued the New Jersey native, who dated Payne for two years. “I want you to know I loved you unconditionally and completely. I will continue to love you for the rest of my life.”
Cassidy was reportedly with Payne in Argentina for roughly two weeks, including at his former bandmate Niall Horan’s Oct. 2 show in Buenos Aires, but she returned to the United States on Monday.
Payne died Wednesday at the CasaSur Palermo Hotel, just minutes after a receptionist called emergency services asking for help, saying a guest was “trashing” his room and was believed to be “high on drugs.”
In the chilling call, the receptionist said he was unsure whether the guest’s “life may be in danger,” noting the room had a balcony.
Payne was allegedly kicked out of another one of the city’s hotels in the days leading up to his tragic death, insiders told People on Friday.
“He was being a nuisance and disturbing the other guests and appeared intoxicated,” said one of the sources.
A preliminary autopsy report concluded Payne suffered multiple traumatic injuries resulting in internal and external bleeding after authorities say he “jumped” from the balcony of his third-floor room at CasaSur.
The circumstances surrounding Payne’s fatal plunge, including whether he had any drugs or alcohol in his system at the time, remain under investigation.
