LEONARD GREENE: Posing for pictures with Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs has been politicized

Diddy with Oprah. Diddy with Obama.

Diddy with Taylor Swift, Jay Z and Hillary Clinton.

The internet is a cruel and evil place.

Now that Diddy, born Sean Combs, has become the nation’s latest pariah, thanks to a scandalous sex trafficking indictment, social media is rife with pictures of him and any so-called person of influence.

Diddy with Prince Harry. Diddy with Kamala Harris.

Wait. That last one was a fake. That picture, from 2001, was actually Combs’ head photoshopped onto the body of former talk show host Montel Williams, who briefly dated Harris long before her days in the presidential campaign spotlight.

Cruel. Evil.

Like anyone who would post it.

Expect no less from Donald Trump.

According to reports, the Republican nominee and former president of the United States shared the fake photo in a now-deleted post on his personal Truth Social network, the same social media site whose stock plunged 17% after his failed debate with Harris.

A screenshot of the reposted missive asked if Harris had ever participated in one of Combs’ “freak-offs,” the drug-fueled sex parties detailed in the explosive federal indictment against Diddy.

Harris didn’t dignify the post with a comment, and Trump didn’t say anything about it either.

Trump just simply deleted the post, although it wasn’t clear if he removed the picture because it was fake or because he knows there are plenty of pictures of him with Combs that are real.

Combs was arrested last week, and indicted on charges of sex trafficking, racketeering and transportation to engage in prostitution. The long-anticipated indictment came after months of lawsuits filed against the rap music mogul and Bad Boy Entertainment founder.

One of those lawsuits was launched by the singer Cassie, Combs’ former girlfriend. She sued Combs in November 2023 alleging that she was physically abused and raped, charges that Combs vehemently denied before the two sides reached a settlement — the very next day.

Months later, shocking and disturbing surveillance video surfaced of Combs attacking Cassie in a Los Angeles hotel back in 2016.

Cassie, in the lawsuit, said Combs had paid $50,000 for the security video, The arrangement didn’t stop CNN from obtaining the video and giving it more exposure than any of Combs’ music videos ever got.

By the time Combs issued his weak video apology, the statute of limitations had already run out.

But not this time. Combs sits right now in Brooklyn’s federal detention center with no bail, facing charges that could keep him in prison for the rest of his life.

Several reports said he is on a suicide watch, but a representative said he is determined to fight the charges.

“Mr. Combs is strong, healthy, and focused on his defense,” the representative said. “He is committed to fighting this case and has full confidence in both his legal team and the truth.”

Most celebrities now wouldn’t touch Combs with a 10-foot pole. Given all the details about Diddy’s “freak offs,” they wouldn’t touch the pole, either.

But that hasn’t stopped the internet trolls from playing the guilt by association game.

The ridiculous suggestion is that if they posed for a picture with Combs, then they must have known about or participated in the parties. Or even worse, they knew about or participated in the alleged sex trafficking.

Harris did post a tweet thanking Combs for hosting a fundraiser for her presidential campaign.

“Thank you,@Diddy, for hosting this town hall last night,” she wrote. “There’s a lot at stake for our communities right now.”

But that was four years ago, when Harris ran for president in 2020 when the only crime Diddy was associated with was rapping on other people’s records.
