Lee Anderson delivers brutal verdict after Argentina's President Javier Milei rips into UK

Reform UK’s Lee Anderson has taken a swipe at Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer after Argentina’s President made critical remarks about the UK following weeks of horrific riots.

Javier Milei, Argentina’s radical right-wing leader, said in a speech this week: “Those crazy socialists in Britain are putting people in prison for posting on social networks.”

He added: “Many journalists here (Argentina) would also want to have it like that, because they don’t like the fact that they have lost the monopoly on the microphone.

“It was a tool they could use to extort, smear and slander at will. Social media has interrupted their plans and they don’t like it.”

Sharing a video of the speech on X, Lee Anderson responded: “Oh Dear….”

He added: “It really comes to something when a South American country is criticising the UK on the subject of free speech.

“And to all those on the Left thinking this is funny then think on – eventually they will come for you.”

It is not clear what Milei is referring to, but his comments come as multiple people are charged for their alleged involvement in the riots that have recently swept across the UK.

Miliei has also raised eyebrows in the UK with his comments regarding the Falkland Islands since he took office in Buenos Aires.

In May, he told the BBC that the dispute over who has sovereignty over the islands could last decades.

He added: “We are not going to relinquish our sovereignty, nor are we going to seek conflict with the United Kingdom.”
