Larcenous Lothario robs Bronx man he met on dating app: police

A larcenous Lothario looking to connect on a dating app robbed a potential suitor of his clothes, a cell phone and an Apple watch as the two met up at his victim’s apartment, police said Friday.

The 47-year-old victim told police that he met the crook on a dating app and invited him to meet at his home near  West Fordham Road and Andrews Ave. in University Heights about 1 p.m. on Saturday, May 4.

The victim told cops he had also asked the stranger to help him with a “project” he was working on in his home, but did tell them what the project was.

Once inside, the suspect grabbed the victim’s clothes and took the Apple watch, cops said, adding that when the victim tried to stop him from leaving, the thief said “What are you going to do?” and tried to punch the victim, missed and then shoved the victim and threw a mirror at him before running off.

The victim was not seriously injured.

It was not immediately disclosed what app the two men met on.

Cops on Friday released a photo the suspect used on the app in the hopes of identifying him. Anyone with information is urged to call NYPD Crime Stoppers at (800) 577-TIPS. All calls will be kept confidential.
