Kris Jenner’s younger sister, Karen Houghton, has died.
Houghton’s death was reported on Mar. 18 to San Diego County officials in San Marcos, California, according to TMZ.
The cause of her death is currently undetermined, but at the moment, officials are attributing Houghton’s passing to natural causes.
The 65-year-old was Kris’ only sibling. She had one child, a daughter named Natalie Zettel, whom she shared with ex-husband Mark Zettel.
Kris posted a heartfelt tribute for Houghton in a Mar. 19 IG post, writing, “It is with the heaviest heart and deepest sadness that I share that my sister Karen passed away yesterday unexpectedly. My heart aches for my mom MJ [Houghton] and my niece Natalie and I pray that God guides us all through this difficult time. Karen was beautiful inside and out. She was the sweetest, kindest, the most sensitive and vulnerable and so so funny.”
“She always felt grateful and thankful for her life and treasured her family and friends and especially her beautiful daughter. She holds such a huge part of my heart and I cherish every single memory we have together.”
“Karen’s passing is a reminder that life is so short and precious and tomorrow is never promised. We must tell those we cherish how much we love them. I love you my beautiful sister.”
Despite her mega famous family, Houghton kept a relatively low profile as she and Jenner had a complicated relationship at one point. However, the sisters put aside their differences in 2019, posing for a holiday photo with Kendall and Kylie Jenner.
Karen hasn’t been spotted with the Kardashian-Jenner clan in recent years, but preferred staying out of the limelight working as a nurse before her death.
Houghton is survived by her daughter, mother, nieces and nephews and preceded in death by her and Kris’ father, Robert Houghton.
