King Charles ‘hoped for reunion’ with Prince Harry before explosive interview – but is frustrated by ‘lack of respect’

“FRUSTRATED” King Charles had hoped for a reunion with his son before Prince Harry’s astonishing interview, insiders claim.

The Duke of Sussex lashed out in a TV interview last night, blaming his family for the defeat in his long-running battle over security.

Harry, 40, claimed to want “reconciliation” with his family… before blaming the loss of his multimillion-pound fight on his father.

The raging prince declared: “This whole thing could be resolved through him”.

But the father-of-two also revealed in the bombshell interview that King Charles refuses to speak to him “because of this security stuff”.

He went on to say he doesn’t know how long his father has left to live.

An insider claimed that Charles was frustrated and upset with his son — and the burden he had put on taxpayers.

Moments before the broadcast, sources close to the King had told The Sun of Charles’s “frustration” that Harry’s supporters suggested “his father doesn’t care about his (Harry’s) family”.

Insiders had also suggested a possible way forward between the pair depended on Harry’s reaction to the court loss.

Prince Harry humiliated as he LOSES security row after pleading ‘my life is at stake’ – and now faces £1.5m legal bill

PRINCE Harry has lost his publicly-funded security appeal in a humiliating blow after moaning “my life is at stake

The Duke of Sussex brought the case against the Home Office and the Executive Committee for the Protection of Royalty and Public Figures (Ravec).

Harry always said the three-and-a-half year legal battle “mattered” more to him than anything else – including his privacy rows with the press.

He had moaned he was “singled out” after his round-the-clock royal protection was axed in the wake of Megxit.

Harry also bizarrely claimed stripping him of his security was a plot to force him and Meghan Markle back to Britain.

Earlier this month, Harry returned to the UK for his two-day hearing at the Court of Appeal in London.

But Sir Geoffrey Vos, Lord Justice Bean and Lord Justice Edis today ruled against him in a humiliating blow for the prince.

The loss – his second unsuccessful appeal against the decision – could be the final nail in the coffin for his security row, although Harry could still take his fight to the Supreme Court.

It also means he faces paying the legal costs for both sides, which is estimated to amount to more than £1.5million

Minutes later they got their answer as Harry again raged against the State, the Royal Household, his father, brother William and stepmother Camilla.

Speaking before the interview aired, the insider said: “But there is now a chance for his son to move forwards rather than dwell on past grievances. From his father’s perspective, the door has been shut by necessity while this painful issue played out through the proper judicial channels — but it has not been locked forever, nor the key thrown away.”

Friends close to the King had raised the idea of a reconciliation before the interview aired.

But they said Harry’s attacks in recent years and controversy over the security case had made the family situation worse.

They said: ‘The King has always considered this was an issue for His Government and courts to resolve and that for him to intervene in any way would be constitutionally improper.

“What has frustrated and upset him on a more personal level is the Duke’s failure to respect this principle — and for his supporters to suggest that somehow his father doesn’t care about his family, or should step in, click his fingers, and demand a form of protection that the leading national experts on protection may or may not consider necessary on any given visit.”

Royal expert Professor Kate Williams cast doubt on whether the damaged father-and-son relationship can ever be repaired.

Speaking on Sky News, she said: “He’s bristling with anger, isn’t he, and resentment. And mistrust of the royal household.

“And despair over his father’s attitude, I suppose. It’s just such a sad and sorry saga.

Prince Harry’s biggest bombshells:

“I had hoped eventually there might be some kind of reconciliation, but clearly, although Harry says he wants reconciliation, he doesn’t see he can do that now.”

Harry’s complaint had centred around the Royal and VIP Executive Committee (Ravec), which authorises security for senior royals on behalf of the Home Office.

Changes to his security were introduced in 2020 as he stepped down as a working royal and moved to the United States.

He said of yesterday’s court decision: “The other side have won in keeping me unsafe.

“I can’t see a world in which I will be bringing my wife and children back at this point.”

Harry also chillingly suggested it would be the Firm’s fault if anything happened to him or wife Meghan Markle.

He told the BBC that verdict was “a good old-fashioned establishment stitch up”, and blamed the Royal Household for influencing the decision to reduce his security.

A Palace Spokesperson said: “All of these issues have been examined repeatedly and meticulously by the courts, with the same conclusion reached on each occasion.”
