Costner said of the standing ovation that it was “such a good moment, not just for me, but for the actors who came with me, for people who believed in me, who continued to work…
“I made this. It’s not mine anymore. It’s yours. I knew that the minute this was over and that’s what it should be. I think movies aren’t about their opening weekends. They’re about their life and about how many times you’re willing to share it.”
Calling Horizon a “miracle” of his life, he added: “Thank you so much for giving me your precious time. I hope that this time was worth it for you. Thank you,” he said.”
The Hollywood star has since addressed rumours he put $20 million of his own money into the $100 million first two parts, admitting the amount was actually considerably more.
Speaking with GQ, Costner said: “I know they say I’ve got $20 million of my own money in this movie,” Costner said. “It’s not true. I’ve got now about $38 million in the film. That’s the truth. That’s the real number.”
Horizon: An American Saga – Chapter 1 hits cinemas on June 28, followed by Chapter 2 on August 16, 2024. Meanwhile, Chapter 3 started shooting earlier this month and Chapter 4 remains in development.
