On Tuesday, former Chiefs’ safety Justin Reid signed with the New Orleans Saints, per NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.
The 28-year-old signed a three-year, $31 million contract with the Saints, including $22.5 million guaranteed.
The Chiefs released Reid during this offseason.
He played three seasons in Kansas City and reached the Super Bowl in all three campaigns.
Reid helped contribute to two of those Super Bowl showdown victories.
During his Chiefs tenure, he appeared in 49 games and posted 265 total tackles.
And Reid was productive during the postseason with the franchise, tallying 1.5 in 10 playoff games.
Unfortunately for him and the Kansas City team, they couldn’t achieve a historic three-peat in last month’s big game against the Philadephia Eagles.
Before joining the Chiefs, Reid spent four years with the Houston Texans, who selected him in the third round of the 2018 NFL Draft.
The Stanford product will join a Saints team and reunite with former Chiefs players, which include fellow safety Tyrann Mathieu, defensive lineman Khalen Saunders, running back Clyde Edwards-Helaire, linebacker Willie Gay Jr., and wide receiver Marquez Valdez-Scantling.
However, the latter three players are unrestricted free agents and could sign elsewhere.
As for the Chiefs, they entered the offseason with dozens of free agents while also dealing with limited cap space.
They lost Reid as well as wide receiver Justin Watson, running back Samaje Perine, and pass rusher Tershawn Wharton.
Kansas City traded away All-Pro offensive lineman Joe Thuney to the Chicago Bears for a late-round pick in 2026.

The Chiefs did add to their AFC champion squad, signing former San Francisco 49ers players Jaylon Moore and running back Elijah Mitchell.
They signed former Los Angeles Chargers cornerback Kristian Fulton to a two-year, $20 million deal, including $15 million guaranteed.
And Kansas City also retained wide receiver Marquise Brown and long snapper James Winchester.
NFL free agency officially begins on Wednesday at 4:00 pm Eastern.
