Democratic presidential nominee Kamala Harris landed on the digital cover of Vogue magazine less than a month before the 2024 election.
The photo, shot by Annie Leibovitz, features the vice president in a chocolate brown suit against a maroon background. It trumpets Harris as “The Candidate for Our Times.”

The coverage includes an interview with the 59-year-old VP, who’s challenging 78-year-old Republican Donald Trump to be the nation’s 47th president. She speaks about complex issues including job skills training, cost of living expenses at home and unrest in the Middle East.
“You’re never going to have a complete agreement on all the issues,” Harris says. “But you can find common ground — and expand that.”
Vogue first photographed Harris for its cover in January 2021. That shot, featuring the vice president in Converse sneakers, was less formal than the photo snapped of Harris in the weeks before she could be elected the nation’s commander-in-chief.
Harris’ appearance on Vogue caps off a weeklong media blitz that included interviews with Howard Stern, Stephen Colbert and the cast of ABC’s “The View.”
The November print cover of the famed fashion magazine went to singer Billie Eilish, who appears in a white suit and yellow tie. Vogue has not responded to a request regarding Harris’ digital cover being made available in print form.
Vogue has a long history of putting first lady’s on its cover, but Harris is only the second woman to be featured as a presidential candidate.
Hillary Clinton, the only other woman to represent a major political party in a presidential election, became the first ever candidate endorsed by Vogue in 2016. Clinton lost that election to Donald Trump, whose wife Melania was famously not asked to pose for the magazine after becoming the nation’s first lady.
