KAI Cenat live streamed a Met Gala after party despite having turning down Met Gala 2025 invite.

The 23-year-old streamer and popular YouTube star recently revealed he had an opportunity to attend the Met Gala but didn’t want to go.

Speaking in a stream, he said: “I had an opportunity to go to the Met Gala, chat.

“But, I didn’t go because I’m not gonna lie, the brand that wanted to host me… I didn’t really, like, wanna do that brand.”

After turning down an invite to the main event, Kai was then invited to an After Party by Pharrell Williams.

Uploading a live stream of his time at the after party, Kai left people feeling a little distracted by his annoying habit.

Overly excited by the event he was attending, the enthusiastic star kept repeating the world “alright” in the video.

In the clip, as Kai arrived at the event, he said “hello” to all of the staff and repeatedly said “alright” due to being so excited.

How do you get an invite to the Met Gala?

The Met Gala is one of the biggest fashion nights of the year but not everyone gets to attend the annual fundraiser – so, how do you get an invite to the exclusive event?

Invites to the charity event for the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute are rare and they do not let you get in for free.

According to the New York Times, they cost $75,000 while tables are priced at $350,000 – and all attendees have to be approved by Vogue’s editor in chief Anna Wintour.

So, the majority of guests are invited by major fashion houses and organisations with celebrities usually able to attend for free on behalf of brands who will foot the bill.

Designers like Gucci, Prada, and Louis Vuitton will usually buy tables and fill them up with A-listers from Hollywood, sports, art, and social media.

Many who get invites are brand ambassadors, major figures for hot campaigns, or stars that companies want to be linked to.

Social media stars are most likely to be invited by major platforms like Meta and Instagram, bringing in TikTok stars and other huge celebrities – but everyone needs to be over the age of 18.

Ultimately, anyone with a major platform who it willing to pay the price of a table and who is approved by Vogue’s chief will be able to attend.

Those who are not part of the elite may also be able to get their way into to exclusive event via volunteering and work.

Jobs or internships in production, public relations, catering, communications, media, and in the museum could also secure you a space behind the scenes at the Gala.

TWITCH BAN FEARS

This comes just months after Kai faced calls to be banned from the platform after a disturbing prank was shared on his live stream.

He came under fire for a trick performed by magician Max Major.

The shocking clip showed Max hanging from a noose during Kai’s Mafiathon 2 special livestream in November.

Max was standing on a stool while Kai was about to pull a lever.

Kai pulled a lever that left the magician suspended in the air, But the streamer was shocked and quickly asked Max if he was hurt.

Kai admitted he feared a Twitch ban, while Max clarified that it was a sick magic trick.

Viewers were outraged, with some calling for Twitch to ban Kai.

Kai made his name on social media by sharing pranks and videos of viral challenges on YouTube before turning to Twitch in 2021.

He posted his first video on YouTube in 2018, and has since shot to social media stardom.
