Judge in Justin Timberlake’s DWI case slams ‘unprepared’ prosecutors

Prosecutors in Justin Timberlake’s DWI case were taken to task Friday for being “unprepared” during the pop star’s latest Hamptons court hearing.

The “Selfish” crooner, 43, whose license was suspended in New York last week, was arrested in the early hours of June 18 for blowing a stop sign in Sag Harbor and failing to stay in his lane.

Sag Harbor Village Justice Carl Irace on Aug. 9 slammed prosecutors for being “unprepared,” as he anticipated they’d have accomplished more in discovery thus far, People reports.

On Tuesday, a DWI report obtained by multiple outlets showed that the NSYNC alum refused a rookie cop’s three attempts to administer a Breathalyzer test during the June 18 incident. Timberlake at the time also failed multiple field sobriety tests before he was ultimately taken into custody, and charged hours later with a revised misdemeanor count of driving while intoxicated.

The “Cry Me a River” singer, who appeared virtually during his Aug. 2 hearing, pleaded not guilty. That day, his attorney, Edward Burke, said that Timberlake “was not intoxicated” during the arrest.

During the latest hearing — which Burke described to media as a “very procedural day” — it was noted that the American Hotel has been subpoenaed.

Timberlake reportedly drank just one martini when he was partying at the hotel prior to the arrest, as both the singer and a bartender there confirmed to People in late June.

“If he was drinking more, it wasn’t here,” another employee told the outlet.

The hotel is “complying” with the case, as was noted during Friday’s hearing.

Timberlake, who is currently in Europe as part of his Forget Tomorrow World Tour, was not in attendance Friday and is not required to appear in person at his Sept. 13 hearing.

A source told Entertainment Tonight in the days after the arrest that Timberlake was “remorseful, ashamed, and humiliated.”

At his first post-arrest performance on June 21, Timberlake reflected on his “tough week” while thanking the crowd at Chicago’s United Center.

“We’ve been together through ups and downs, and lefts and rights. And it’s been a tough week,” said Timberlake, who performed two gigs at Madison Square Garden days later.

Acknowledging that he is “sometimes … hard to love,” Timberlake said his fans “keep on loving me and I love you right back.”

Late last month, an insider told ET that the “SexyBack” singer was “prepared to face whatever consequences” for the ordeal and was “hoping to learn from this experience and put it behind him.”
