Jennifer Lopez breaks silence on painful divorce from Ben Affleck

Jennifer Lopez has finally broken her silence on her difficult divorce from Ben Affleck, saying it “exploded” her “whole f—ing world.”

The Bronx-born pop star, 55, spoke to comedian Nikki Glaser for Interview Magazine, in a conversation published on Wednesday.

“It was like my whole f—ing world exploded,” Lopez said of recent months, and while she regrets “not one second,” she admits the pain almost took her “out for good.”

Prior to her rekindled relationship with Affleck, Lopez said she thought she’d learned how to enjoy flying solo and done “all the work” to get there. But it wasn’t until whatever tumult led to her and the “Gone Girl” star, 52, ending their two-year marriage that she “finally got it.”

“Now, on the other side of it, I think to myself, ‘F—, that is exactly what I needed,’” she told Glaser. “Thank you, God. I’m sorry it took me so long. I’m sorry that you had to do this to me so many times. I should have learned it two or three times ago. I get it.”

“Now I’m excited, when you say you’re just going to be on your own,” Lopez added.

Her remarks come following a summer of speculation that her marriage to Affleck was on the rocks. The pair, who were engaged in the early aughts and reconciled in 2021, eloped in July 2022 and said “I do” in a lavish ceremony the following month.

Lopez filed for divorce on Aug. 20 of this year — their second wedding anniversary — listing April 26 as their date of separation.

Now, in what Lopez says is a first, she’s “not looking for anybody” and is instead focused on “what can I f—ing do when it’s just me flying on my own … What if I’m just free?”

“The relationship with yourself … I think we tend to get away from at times, when you’re wrapped up with other people,” she said, admitting she’s “a little bit” scared but excited for what’s to come.
