Jazz Chisholm Jr. has bold outlook on Yankees’ postseason: ‘We’re not stopping until we get that ring’

After getting a taste of the postseason with underdog Marlins teams in 2020 and 2023, Jazz Chisholm Jr. is anticipating a different beast in his first playoff run with the Yankees.

He also shared high expectations following the Yankees’ Friday night loss to the Pirates.

“This team is a winning team, and the guys have been wanting it,” Chisholm said of the difference between October baseball in the Bronx and Miami. “This was their goal all season, to get to the World Series, not just to get to the playoffs. And this is only one stop. I feel like in everybody’s heart out here in this clubhouse, we don’t think our stop is now.

“We’re not stopping until we get that ring. That’s what I’ve been hearing since I got here, and that’s how I feel too.”

Chisholm, acquired from the Marlins before the trade deadline, said that he’s been hearing that sentiment from Aaron Judge, Juan Soto, Giancarlo Stanton, Gerrit Cole, Anthony Rizzo — really “the whole team” — for months now.

After never making it past the NLDS in Miami, Chisholm has started to picture what a parade down the Canyon of Heroes might look like.

“Every time we have a little bit of free time, we just talk about how we about to feel when we win this World Series,” he said.

Chisholm has been a bit cold at the plate lately, hitting .207 over 22 September games before going 2-for-4 with a double, a two-run single and his 39th and 40th stolen bases in Friday’s loss. Overall, he’s been a huge boost for the Bombers, hitting 10 homers over his first 45 games while also learning third base on the fly.

He’s only appeared in three playoffs games in his career, hitting .091 with a double over 11 at-bats. He’s hoping to improve those numbers — and expand his postseason sample — over a long run with the Yankees. Their postseason begins next Saturday with the ALDS.

“I think it’s going to be amazing, something I’ve never seen before, and I can’t wait to see it,” Chisholm said. “I’m super excited, especially going into war with these guys, knowing that these guys, we got the best talent in the league to do it. I feel like we have the best team-working-together-ness in the league too. So I just feel like we’re gonna go out there and we’re gonna play together as a team.

“I feel like we’re gonna be unstoppable.”
