Nearly a month after filing for divorce, Jennifer Lopez reunited with Ben Affleck and the stars’ blended families for what sources insist was a “fun lunch,” despite paparazzi photos suggesting a far more tense outing.
The estranged couple and their brood “all came together for a fun lunch so the kids could hang out,” an insider told People of Saturday’s outing at the Beverly Hills Hotel’s Polo Lounge.
The Bronx-born pop star, 55, brought along 16-year-old twins Max and Emme — who she shares with ex-husband Marc Anthony. The Oscar winner, 52, was accompanied by his and ex-wife Jennifer Garner’s younger kids, Seraphina, 15, and Samuel, 12. Big sister Violet, 18, is enjoying her freshman year at Yale University.
Lopez is “trying to be friendly with Ben. They are still moving forward with the divorce though,” said the source, lest anyone get their hopes up for another reconciliation.
The couple had a highly publicized engagement in the early 2000s, and just as highly publicized split, before ultimately reconciling in 2021 and saying “I do” in 2022.
Even if Ben and Jen are officially done, the insider says, “Happy kids are her priority.”
The two have been living apart since at least June and have put their $60 million Beverly Hills mansion up for sale.
On Lopez’s July 24 birthday, she finalized the sale of her New York City penthouse, while Affleck closed escrow on his $20 million Los Angeles estate.
