A women recently stabbed to death by her boyfriend told co-workers the relationship had been deteriorating and that she was considering moving back home to Ireland, police said Wednesday.
Marcin Pieciak, 36, appeared in front of a criminal court judge virtually from his bed in Elmhurst Hospital Center on charges of murder and criminal possession of a weapon in the Saturday slaying of Sarah McNally.
Before she died, McNally told coworkers the relationship “was not going well” and that she was considering going back to Ireland, NYPD Chief of Detectives Joseph Kenny said Wednesday.
McNally, 41, was behind the bar of Ceili House on Grand Ave. near 69th Lane in Maspeth around 6:35 p.m. when Pieciak came at her with knives in each hand, police said.
“Once he makes his greetings he goes behind the bar takes out two knives and stabs her repeatedly,” Kenny said.
McNally was stabbed numerous times, including to the neck, the back and the chest, prosecutors said.
After Pieciak stabbed his girlfriend, he turned at least one of the knives on himself and stabbed himself in the back and neck, cops said.

Both McNally and Pieciak were rushed to Elmhurst Hospital Center.
The stab wounds nicked McNally’s carotid artery, lung and spine and she could not be saved, prosecutors said.
Pieciak remained hospitalized Wednesday, when he wore a hospital gown as he appeared in front of Queens Criminal Court Judge Julieta Lozano.
As Assistant District Attorney Veronika Podoprigora unveiled a detailed account of the slaying for the record, Pieciak began breathing heavily enough that it was audible through the video chat.
The man appeared to be in a daze as Lozano ordered him held without bail.
McNally moved to the city from County Longford, Ireland, where she worked as a civil employee for the Irish Prison Service.
She lived in Glendale, Queens, with Pieciak, police said.
