A planned meeting between Volodymyr Zelensky and the Greek Prime Minister was interrupted by a missile strike this afternoon.
The Ukrainian president met with Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis today, who travelled to the country to an undisclosed location where the two were due to meet for talks.
As Mr Mitsotakis awaited the premier’s arrival, a missile is believed to have struck just 150 miles from the meeting place.
Mr Zelensky has since spoken about the unexpected strike, which he said has left “casualties”.
And some details about his meeting with the NATO leader have emerged, with Greece offering aid in the Black Sea.
Mr Zelensky said: “We witnessed the strike today. You see who we’re dealing with; they don’t care where to hit.
“I know there were casualties today; I don’t know all the details yet, but I know there are casualties.”
“Whether they are military, civilians, international guests — it doesn’t matter to these people.
“Either they’ve lost their minds or they have no control over their terrorist army’s actions.
“This emphasises the need for us to defend ourselves, and the best way is through an air defence system.”
