SHOHEI Ohtani’s baseball life is out and open for the public, but the Los Angeles Dodgers two-way star’s personal life is very much closed off.
The three-time MLB MVP Ohtani, who will earn over $700 million in his career, is the husband of a rarely-seen wife and now the father of a newborn baby.

Ohtani is on his way to perhaps being the best-ever MLB player due to his generational skills as a hitter and pitcher.
The Japanese five-time MLB All-Star won his first World Series in his first year with the Dodgers in 2024.
But as much as Ohtani is in the spotlight thanks to the American and Japanese media, the 30-year-old prefers his personal life to be behind closed doors.
Ohtani first announced his marriage to the public on social media in February 2024, but didn’t reveal his new wife’s name.
Two weeks later, he revealed on Instagram that his wife’s name is Mamiko Tanaka, who is a Japanese basketball player.
But since then, Ohtani has put together a social media post involving his wife just twice.
The second time came on Saturday, as Ohtani and Tanaka announced the birth of their first child.
He had posted on his Instagram in late December that he and Tanaka were expecting a baby in 2025.
Ohtani was unable to play the two games of the Dodgers’ road series against the Texas Rangers after being placed on MLB’s paternity list for the birth.
“Welcome to the Ohtani Family!” Ohtani wrote on social media.
“I am so grateful to my loving wife who gave birth to our healthy beautiful daughter.
“To my daughter, thank you for making us very nervous yet super anxious parents.
“I would also like to thank the Dodgers organization, my teammates, and the fans for their constant support and kind words of encouragement.”
The post included a zoomed-in snap of Ohtani and Tanaka’s hands holding their newborn daughter’s foot.

The MLB star did not reveal his daughter’s name or birth details.
Ohtani and Tanaka were spotted together in a large public gathering for the first time last May.
The couple took to the red carpet at the Dodgers Foundation Blue Diamond Gala.
They also posed for photos with music star Ed Sheeran.
Still, Ohtani and Tanaka choose to keep their relationship mainly private.
When Ohtani announced his marriage last year, he asked the press not to reach out to his family and friends for more information about his wife.

“The season is approaching, I am pleased to announce to you that I have gotten married,” Ohtani wrote.
“We are still young and [there are] many things we don’t know yet, but we hope you will warmly watch over us.
“We hope that the two of us (and one dog) will work together to support each other and move forward alongside with our fans.”
Ohtani often posts social media pictures of the family dog, Decoy, who is now a prominent figure in the Dodgers community.
Ohtani’s luxury home and cars
Last year, Ohtani purchased a $7.85 million mansion in the city of La Canada Flintridge, per the LA Times.
The luxury pad has five bedrooms and is reportedly 13 miles away from Dodger Stadium.
Ohtani also drives multiple incredible cars, including a Porsche Taycan Turbo S, which is priced at $190,000.

He also owns a Porsche 911 Carrera S and and Tesla Model X.
Both vehicles cost around $100,000.
