Informa, a corporate events organiser, has seen an increase in sales in recent months following a partnership with Microsoft to enhance its use of artificial intelligence (AI). The FTSE 100-listed company reported revenues of approximately £1.4 billion for the first five months of this year, a tenth higher than the same period last year, thanks to strong demand for live events globally.
The firm, which organises hundreds of specialist business events and conferences annually, suffered during Covid when it had to transition events online. However, it has since experienced a resurgence in demand for global live experiences and expanded into countries such as Saudi Arabia and China.
Informa’s CEO, Stephen Carter, stated that the company has “changed gears” and its strategy focusing on “specialist markets, unique content and internationalisation” is proving successful. Last month, Informa announced a collaboration with US tech giant Microsoft to explore the use of AI within its business to foster innovation and boost productivity.
The deal, set to run until 2027 and worth 10 million US dollars (£7.9 million) in its first year, will also benefit Microsoft through access to Informa’s content and data. Informa produces academic research via its Taylor & Francis brand and specialist magazines for industries including healthcare, aviation, health and nutrition.
The company employs approximately 12,000 staff across its brands in 30 countries globally.
Informa revealed that a significant number of events have already been rebooked for 2025.
The firm anticipates reporting annual revenues of up to £3.5 billion and an adjusted operating profit of up to £970 million, which is at the upper end of its previous forecast.
