With the average person spending one-third of their life asleep, it’s important to make the space perfect.
Tobie Lewis, paint and interiors expert at Valspar Paint, has recommended a variety of colours to paint the bedroom, including blue, green and neutral.
1. Blue
The expert said: “Blue is one of the colours most associated with calm. Light blue, in particular, is commonly associated with peacefulness, and some medical research has suggested that the colour can help reduce blood pressure. This makes it a perfect colour for your bedroom.”
A light blue feature wall is the way to go or it can be added with throws and cushions.
2. Green
Green is becoming an extremely popular colour in the interior world, and they are essential to help create a calming interior.
The expert said: “Nature-inspired colour palettes are essential to creating a calming interior.
“These colours evoke the sense of being surrounded by nature, creating a calming and harmonious atmosphere inside.”
There are lots of shades of green but an earthy green paint on the ceiling can add a “refreshing yet comforting” feel to the home.
Adding lots of houseplants can also help to enhance sleep.
3. Neutral
Tobie explained: “Neutrals are an excellent choice for a serene space. White, grey, and brown can all provide a sense of ease and warmth in the home, setting an inviting scene.
“Bringing in as much natural light as you can is a key component when styling a relaxed space”.
Stick to colours including cream and taupe to provide a sense of ease and warmth, helping you to sleep.
This colour can be added onto walls or in the form of bedding and soft furnishings.
4. Pink
The interior pro continued: “A blush pink is great for bedrooms. It’s a gentle and balanced tone of pink that creates a soft atmosphere in the home.
“Blush pink also creates a calming atmosphere and is known to even lower blood pressure, overall leading to an improved sleep quality.
“Blush pink is a great tone for colour drenching creating a complete cocoon of comforting sleep.”
