RAFAEL NADAL has revealed that he was crying at home after Rory McIlroy’s dramatic Masters win.

The Northern Irish golfer beat Justin Rose in a one-hole play-off at Augusta National Golf Club last month.

McIlroy’s victory meant he had finally completed his career grand slam in a brilliant achievement.

He had many fans cheering him on to win the coveted Green Jacket and one from the world of tennis.

Nadal, 38, was watching McIlroy play his way around the iconic course from home.

And he has admitted that when the golfer putted the winning shot, he could not hold back the tears.

He told CNN: “I have been super emotional.

“I was, honestly, I was crying at home when he won, yeah.

“I have been very, very emotional and I was suffering a lot with him.”

Nadal also insisted that he was always backing McIlroy to win the tournament.

His support did not falter despite some shaky moments from the golfer.

He added: “I honestly had the confidence all the time that he would make it happen.

“He deserves it first of all. I always think that, in some way, there is justice.

“I really believe that he probably knew before the round that he was to go through all these pressure moments, and the beginning is tough.

“I think he accepted it very well.”

Meanwhile, Nadal’s business venture with Cristiano Ronaldo has closed one of its branches after three years.

The pair jointly invested in an Italian restaurant in Madrid called Toto.

Toto Madrid has now shut down, with plans to open a new restaurant in the Spanish capital, while branches in Dubai and Abu Dhabi are still trading.
