Did you know it happens to be Afternoon Tea Week (August 12-18)?
Afternoon tea has served as a popular choice for special occasions not only throughout the UK in recent times but many tourists seem to be enjoying the British tradition.
One place fully on board with the trend is Browns where I got to experience the afternoon tea myself.
The brasserie is marking a collaboration with Moët and Chandon with staple Afternoon Tea classics accompanied by some modern twists as well as a crisp cold glass of champagne.
What more could you want? I got to enjoy three layers of sweet and savoury treats, foodies can experience this too when they go and visit one of the 26 bars and restaurants across the UK. I got to visit the Covent Garden branch in London’s west end.
Starting with the sandwiches, including classic Ploughmans with Cheddar, sticky pickle & sliced apple as well as a more modern luxury take on the seafood sarnie – the brioche roll with lobster tail in Sicilian lemon and dill mayonnaise, which was delicious.
Moving on to the all-important scone tier, customers have the choice of freshly baked plain or fruit scones, clotted cream and strawberry or blackcurrant jam.
And finally, the afternoon tea is finished off with four sensational desserts including mini carrot and orange cake and the quintessentially British Blackcurrant Victoria sponge.
There’s pretty much something for everyone when it comes to desserts and you can’t go wrong with a Victoria sponge.
It wouldn’t be afternoon tea without a hot cup of tea and a range of choices including breakfast and herbal teas to finish off the treat.
Whilst the afternoon tea can be enjoyed without an alcoholic beverage, for a small supplement you can elevate your experience with one of three drinks from the iconic champagne brand, Moët and Chandon.
You can enjoy either an ice-cold flute of Moët & Chandon Impérial Champagne or Rose Champagne. Or if you prefer a cocktail with your meal, you can opt for a Champagne Cosmo made from Discarded Grape Skin Vodka, Chambord and Cointreau, shaken with cranberry and lime, topped with Moët & Chandon Impérial Champagne.
Alongside the classic afternoon tea menu, they also offer bespoke vegetarian and gluten-free afternoon teas, all accredited by Coeliac UK.
As part of the launch, Browns Moët and Chandon are offering exclusive luxury champagne coasters for all guests who enjoy the Champagne Afternoon Tea from now until the end of August.
The one-of-a-kind coasters have been custom-made for the launch and are part of a pair; each one featuring the iconic logo of the partner brands. The pair can be collected by simply visiting more than once within the launch period.
The afternoon tea menu runs nationwide from 3-5pm every day, and from 1-4pm in their exclusive afternoon tea room in London’s Covent Garden.
Prices depend on the location of the branch with costs starting from:
Classic Afternoon Tea – £25 per person
Champagne Afternoon Tea – £35 per person
Pink Champagne Afternoon Tea – £40 per person
